Hot Fudge

This is our families favorite recipe.  My mom would make it growing up. I’m not sure if it is a secret recipe up to this point but I’m sharing it with you now.  Anytime I make it I get asked so I may as well publicize it.

I made this for friends and neighbors this year for Christmas.  It was a hit and may become a new tradition.

Hot Fudge

1/2 cup butter (can be salted or unsalted)

6 oz (1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips (cannot use milk chocolate or it will be waxy)

1 can evaporated milk

2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

Melt the butter and chocolate together.  Once melted add the milk and powdered sugar.  Stir continually while bringing it to a boil.  Continue to stir for 6 minutes on low keeping mixture boiling.   After 6 minutes remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

Eat over ice-cream, berries or let it cool and eat by the spoon full!  Make sure to refrigerate any unused portion.
